Javier Escrihuela is a very passionate, focused but open-minded chamber music and orchestra player who enjoys bringing and sharing his love for culture, musical arts and violoncello in particular with everyone. Member of the EUYO (European Union Youth Orchestra), principal cellist of the NJO (National Jeugdorkest – Nehterlands), BBC Proms Youth Ensemble and player of the Philharmonie Valiant, JONDE… Javier was born in Spain, where he started his musical career at the age of 8, in Valencia he completed the professional degree of music wining the “Professional music award” and the best grades amongst all the instruments at the “Music Awards of the Valencian Community”. Whilst receiving coaching from J.P.Maintz, Miklos Perényi, Istvan Vardai, Asier Polo, Hanns-Christian Schweiker, Corina Belcea, Kathryn Scott, etc… Javier has been member of the youth talent promotion exchange “MMM” (Music Mentoring Maters) and traveled to the HfM Hanns Eisler (Berlin) where he got coaching from Stephan Forck. After winning an entrance scholarship to study with the principal cellist of the “City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra” Eduardo Vassallo at the world-known “Royal Northern College of Music”, he moved to one of the most prestigious Hochschule in the international scope, the “Hochschule für Musik FHNW Basel” where he currently is completing his master degree under Rafael Rosenfeld , solo cello of Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich. As a chamber music player, Javier has recorded 2 CDs and played in festivals such as the BBC PROMS, Hertor Berlioz IMF or CELLISSIMO and is a member of the Schifflände Piano Trio and the Helvetian Quartet whom he regularly performs in Basel, UK, Romania, Spain, Cyprus…
